Robert Half Workday Payroll Manager in Richmond, Virginia

Description Robert Half is currently working with a client looking to fill a Payroll Manager position. This Payroll Manager will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department and will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies. If you are a dynamic Payroll Manager with excellent communication, proven leadership, and are deadline driven, this may be the role for you.

What you get to do every day

  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits

  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams

  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems

  • Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g., salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments)

  • Comply with relevant laws and internal policies

  • Settle issues and respond to all questions related to payroll

  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records

  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades

  • Manage and train payroll clerks and assistants Requirements - Background in handling confidential business matters and information with discretion

  • 5+ years of payroll experience

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Understanding of multiple payroll applications

  • Excellent knowledge in compliance

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field

  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role

  • CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus

  • Superb understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
