EBA Engineering, Inc. Vice President/Operations Manager of Water Systems Engineering in Richmond, Virginia

EBA is seeking a Vice President/Operations Manager of Water Systems Engineering who will help deepen our water systems expertise, help our company continue to deliver exceptional and client-focused design and engineering services.

Reporting directly to the President/CEO and Company Board of Directors, the Vice President, and Water Systems Engineering Department will be responsible for all departmental operations, management and client relations. This position requires providing leadership and direction for design and construction of water and wastewater systems including pipelines, pumping stations and treatment plants and oversight for compliance with industry standards and client expectations. Create, implement and enhance consistent practices to ensure delivery of stable services aligned with company initiatives, expectations and strategic plan. Ensure a high degree of functional department efficiency and work closely with other functional leaders in the company, including those in finance, marketing, administration and human resource.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and oversee operations and technical and administrative matters for a department with 50+ staff
  • Responsible for client relations, business development, contract negotiations and developing technical scope and fee proposals
  • Maintain repeat clientele and enhance the customer experience by ensuring delivery of highest quality of services on-time and within budget
  • Hire and direct senior managers to acquire necessary resources and plan to meet scheduled commitments
  • Build on top of existing team to achieve 5-year strategic goals
  • Participate in budget and forecast planning and manage departmental expenses and labor cost
  • Be the driving force in the development of the work ethic, culture and values of the team through personal example and establish the style and approach consistent with company policies
  • Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management as needed to mentor staff
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team that sets the company's strategic direction
  • Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with the company strategic plan
  • Expand business areas by exploring new markets and developing new clients
  • Ensure implementation of company standards and policies/practices and work seamlessly with other in-house groups
  • Be responsible for implementation and adherence to company quality control program and safety standards
  • Be a champion for innovative technologies with the ability to implement and utilize in order to excel in a competitive marketplace
  • Perform other duties as and when requested and assigned by the senior management

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills
  • Strong operational and project management skills
  • Strong financial management skills
  • Ability to make quick and sound decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others and be able to handle multiple tasks
  • Solid understanding of water and wastewater systems including pipelines, pumping stations and treatment plants

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license required
  • 12+ years engineering management experience
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience with project management
  • 7+ years demonstrated exceptional leadership skills
  • Strong verbal, presentation and communication skills
  • Working experience in Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area is preferred

Employment Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen, Green Card Resident or Work Authorization in the United States
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal, state, and local security background check
