Senior Manager - Risk Management, Supply Chain Solutions (Hybrid)

Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) manages over 2 billion customer interactions annually for Capital One. SCS partners with over 25 suppliers and is accountable for $1B spend. In addition to managing and influencing every aspect of the credit card production and print media/marketing global supply chain (from paper mills to card manufacturing and logistics providers), this team delivers innovations across direct marketing and keeps Capital One out in front of the competition. SCS is embarking on an exciting transformation journey and we are looking for a Senior Manager, Risk Management to join our team!

As a Senior Risk Manager in SCS, you will apply your leadership and analytical skills across a broad organization that services a majority of our lines of businesses. You will lead a team of highly-skilled associates and managers. Your team provides horizontal well-managed services to all SCS areas, vertical well-managed support for some of our highest risk operations, and oversee the Events and Business Continuity Management processes across the organization. You will own SCS Complaints, Issues, and Event Management framework and processes. You will build on and manage over 20 Controls to ensure regulatory adherence. You will be a thought leader on well-managed practices and risk management, along with creating a multi-year strategy for Supply Chain as enterprise services continue to grow. You will take your process and operations experience and partner with executives and leaders to build a strong well-managed community of practice, and to support operational excellence in our Supply Chain.

This role provides a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Customer Channels, Supply Chain, and the company.

What skills you need to bring to the table:

This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, who is capable of driving transformational change and delivering game-changing value. The preferred candidate will have experience working in Operations or Risk Management organizations within a major financial institution or servicing company, with a solid understanding of process management frameworks, risk and control methodology, control operating and design effectiveness testing, creation of data-driven insights, and drafting and telling compelling stories.

Leadership : Influencing, challenging, and enabling associates and leaders to significantly evolve and lead through change. Drive complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction

Tech & Product Fluency: The role does not require technical skills (e.g. coding) but you need to understand how to harness evolving technology to drive business outcomes. Further, you will be diving into problems with Business Analysts, Operations, and Tech teams and the ability to speak their language is critical to collaboration and consensus building

Curiosity : You have a curiosity to challenge the way things work and are capable of thinking outside of the box to develop and advocate for transformative solutions.

Results Focus : You have a bias towards action, try things and sometimes fail. You work in scaled agile frameworks and believe in iterative delivery with a focus on results.

Communication : You can communicate and partner with your team and key stakeholders across all levels of the company to manage, inform, and influence outcomes. They know your priorities and why you are doing what you are doing.

Analytical : Ability to access and leverage data to build compelling stories of where the leverage is and what investments will deliver the best outcome for our customers and stakeholders.

Customer-Centric : You lead with human centered design as the basis for decision making and influencing outcomes

Responsibilities:

  • Design and drive a risk management and well-managed strategy in support of servicing areas and in partnership with vertical well-managed teams

  • Develop insights using process, control, and event data that identify improvement opportunities in the servicing value chain and work upstream/downstream to drive improvements

  • Use analytical skills to conduct Risk Process Improvement, Process Design & Process Excellence

  • Anticipate risks based on new servicing intent and work with servicing teams to address and mitigate

  • Partner with well-managed and risk management teams inside and outside the organization to further leverage best practices and create momentum around shared goals, objectives, and a strong community of practice

  • Facilitate large scale Process Management/Governance

  • Consult with servicing executives and leaders to create positive relationships and uncover improvements for horizontal services provided

  • Helping set the priorities for strategic programs initiatives while partnering with project and product teams to develop timelines and secure resources

  • Provide well-managed and risk thought leadership to current and new enterprise services

  • Oversee and influence the execution of event andcrisis management for Customer Channels

Location: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to spend about half of your working time in the office and half working virtually.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • At least 3 years experience in Operations or Risk Management

  • At least 2 years experience in People Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2+ years of experience in risk or audit or consulting for modernized cloud based technology solutions

  • Business Process Management certification, Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification

  • 6+ years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • 4+ years of experience in Operations or Risk Management

  • 3+ years experience in People Management
