TekSynap Computer Operator - Temporary in Richmond, Virginia

Responsibilities & Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hardware Deployment (Project-Specific Duties):

  • Install and configure workstation setups at approximately 1,650 desk locations.

  • Equipment includes: two monitors, docking station, laptop, keyboard, and mouse.

  • Ensure all equipment is properly connected, cable-managed, and functioning according to specifications.

  • Follow a standardized checklist and project SOP for quality control.

  • Coordinate with site leads and users for scheduling and placement.

  • Log deployments and update inventory records in coordination with asset management personnel.

  • Participate in project kickoffs, site surveys, post-installation reviews, and sustainment handoffs.

  • General IT Field Technician Duties:

  • Assist in performing technical operations and testing of fully integrated computer-based systems under supervision.

  • Manage and prioritize assigned tickets in the ITSM tool (e.g., ServiceNow) and provide timely resolutions.

  • Seamlessly shift between routine service support and special project workstreams.

  • Follow technical guidance, SOPs, and directives from contract/government leadership.

  • Operate various system components, including laptops, desktops, docking stations, printers, and peripherals.

  • Perform minor troubleshooting and diagnostics for hardware/software issues.

  • Maintain effective communication with peers, customers, and leadership in a team-focused environment.

  • Operate and transport equipment locally using a personal vehicle, company van, or motorized cart, as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year of relevant experience

  • Active Secret clearance with IT-II sensitivity

  • One of the following active IAT II or III certifications:

  • Security+ CE

  • CASP+ CE

  • CCNA Security

  • CySA+ GICSP

  • GSEC

  • SSCP

  • CCNP Security

  • CISA

  • CISSP (or Associate)

  • GCED

  • GCIH

  • DLA CE Cert IA Role/Function: Help Desk Tier II & III - may be obtained on day 1

  • Must have the following: valid state driver's license, personal vehicle and proof of insurance

TekSynap is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Field Technician to support a high-impact, time-sensitive project involving the setup of new hardware equipment at approximately 1,650 desk locations across DLA-supported sites. This role is part of a temporary surge effort aligned to the ESD III contract. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments and is capable of transitioning between project-based deployments and daily operational support.
