A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.) .

Position Summary:

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will report to the Quality Services Manager in the Quality Assurance organization and will independently perform complex professional assignments requiring the application of specialized and/or advanced quality assurance principles. The selected candidate may participate on or lead a team on special studies/activities pertaining to quality assurance aspects of WTP. This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project. Positions located at the Job Site (22 miles north of Richland) work a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Other work locations may work a 9-80’s schedule, M-F 7:00 am to 4:30 pm with alternating Fridays off.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and/or participates on cross-functional teams for complex business topics/issues (e.g., quality management system, laboratory quality program, suspect/counterfeit items program, causal analysis).

  • Monitors and evaluates project personnel execution/implementation of the project quality program. Supports the effective implementation of applicable project quality requirements.

  • Assesses and monitors project engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning, and other activities related to the quality program/plan.

  • Reviews and monitors nonconforming conditions and associated corrective actions to ensure quality program effectiveness.

  • Reviews and reports on project quality-related procedures and manuals for conformance to project quality program/plan requirements.

  • Develops quality procedures for review, approval, and issuance in accordance with approved processes.

  • Develops revisions/amendments to project quality program/plans.

  • Reviews and reports on new or revised regulatory requirements and their impact on the established quality program.

  • Analyzes issues and identifies actions and recommended solutions to mitigate performance risk.

  • Maintains contact with designated client quality personnel to provide status, manage relationships, and execute applicable actions.

  • Provides direction and assigns work to quality specialists and others who assist on specific assignments. Reviews and checks work.

  • Responds to project personnel (engineering, construction, procurement, and others) who request guidance on implementation of quality requirements.

  • Engages with functions to ensure quality requirements are built into processes.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or business management/quality assurance from an accredited university or college with 9 years of progressive experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing/commissioning, operations, or quality assurance. Or in lieu of formal degree, a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing/commissioning, operations, or quality assurance.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the job site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • This role requires a facility-specific clearance that requires U.S. Citizenship to obtain.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

  • Candidates possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship

  • Knowledge of quality principles and their application to engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, or decommissioning activities.

  • Ability to work closely with technical teams, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders in developing and managing quality programs and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability with oral and written communications.

  • Ability to use a computer and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with the application of recognized relevant assurance standards/orders (e.g., ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, DOE O 414.1C/D, DOE O 210.2A) to engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations activities.

  • Knowledge of and experience with laboratory quality program standards, e.g., ASTM C1009-13a, and their application to in-house laboratory activities.

  • Knowledge of suspect/counterfeit program requirements and effective implementation.

  • Knowledge of defective/recalled item resolution process.

  • Knowledge of operating experience/lessons learned processes.

  • Knowledge of corrective action and nonconformance processes.

  • Auditor/lead auditor training and qualification.

  • Root/apparent cause analysis training.
