The Sr. Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer will support a space and counter space program team during the development, testing, acceptance, deployment, and maintenance of any RF-based technical collection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the program team during the development, testing, acceptance, deployment, and maintenance of any RF-based technical collection systems with Subject Matter Expertise.

  • Conduct propagation modeling and analysis for communications, bistatic, multi-static, and monostatic radar.

  • Provide link budget analysis assuming standard propagation losses, atmospheric effects, environmental effects, and circuit effects.

  • Conduct RF systems engineering and reverse engineering.

  • Design, develop, produce, analyze, integrate, test, and deploy digital MASINT receiver applications.

  • Plan and execute construction projects and deployments.

  • Build transmitters and receivers for communications satellite systems and RF systems.

  • Assist with the preparation of government CDRLs as requested by the Project Lead.

  • Provide pre-deployment, and post-deployment support of current and future SCS technical collection capabilities, including but not limited to:

  • Support system development, validation, verification testing, and acceptance.

  • Support to pre-deployment surveys.

  • Support to logistics, planning, and execution of asset installation.

  • Fabrication and Field Engineering support.

  • Maintenance and decommissioning of forward-deployed assets.

  • Complete daily time recording as required in compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Complete annual training by contract and company policies and procedures.

  • Travel up to 15% locally, CONUS, or OCONUS.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

  • Bachelor of Science in a related field like Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred.

  • 9+ years of related experience that demonstrates:

  • A strong proficiency with RF communications or radar systems in system development and acquisition programs.

  • Planning and executing construction projects and deployments.

  • Fixing RF equipment in less-than-ideal conditions.

  • Designing and building transmitters/receivers for communications satellite systems and RF systems.

  • Satellite radio design, satellite ground system design, and operations.

  • Understanding RF feeds across the spectrum, aperture design, phased arraying, and similar.

  • Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI is required.

  • Must pass CI polygraph and be granted SCI eligibility to start.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to provide link budget analysis assuming standard propagation losses, and atmospheric, environmental, and circuit effects.

  • Must be able to maintain a TS/SCI for the lifecycle of the contract.

  • Ability to provide expertise for RF systems, receivers, digitizers, and hardware that operates from 10 MHz to 40 GHz RF spectrum preferred.

  • Experience in designing, developing, producing, analyzing, integrating, testing, and deploying digital MASINT receiver applications to include low noise amplification, filtering, circuit isolation, timing and clocking techniques, high-speed digital sampling techniques, onboard data processing using FPGA, application specific integrated circuits (ASIC), programmable logic devices (PLD), analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), Digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and similar preferred.

  • Experience in designing, developing, producing, analyzing, integrating, testing, evaluating, and deploying low and high-power transmission systems, including combining networks, transmit/receive modules (TR modules), traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWAs), Solis State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), and similar preferred.

  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with time-related constraints in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to self-start and work independently or as a team.

  • Ability to travel locally up to 15% with occasional CONUS or OCONUS travel for approximately one week in duration doing fieldwork.
