SAIC Cloud Engineer in REMOTE WORK, Texas
Description
Help support our nation’s Veterans by joining our high-performance, financial technology team. SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our Innovations & Solutions (IS) team in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs Financial Service Center (FSC) program. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for driving innovation & automation that adheres to cloud architectural best practices within the FSC Azure cloud platform. This includes designing & implementing new cloud platform solutions that accelerate cloud migrations from on-prem to Azure, reduce costs, and improve overall security and resiliency of systems & workloads in Azure. This is a 100% Remote role.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructure
Collaborate with other Engineers, Developers, DBAs, System Administrators and Product teams when designing new or improving existing cloud solutions
Implement industry cloud best practices for security, performance, cost, & resiliency in all aspects of design & implementation
Optimize the existing cloud migration process by introducing more automation into existing workflows with the end goal of speeding up on-premises to cloud migrations
Promote continual improvement through automation of existing cloud tools & pipelines
Improve upon existing cloud monitoring tools & alerting for cloud-hosted systems to ensure cloud systems’ availability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency are optimal
Automate deployment pipelines in a scalable, secure and reliable manner
Troubleshoot issues with application deployments
Support the IS team in maintaining the Terraform Enterprise server & performing version upgrades
Create knowledge-base articles for new tools and processes you implement
Qualifications
Required Experience:
Knowledge of Azure ecosystems at scale
Experience building and maintaining Azure infrastructure through the use of Terraform (IaC) templates
Proficiency in using Ansible for configuration management and automation, including writing and maintaining playbooks, roles
Prior experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Workflows
Experience setting up, maintaining and developing on an ongoing basis continuous build/ integration infrastructure & pipelines
Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, BASH, etc
Required Qualifications:
5 years of experience as an Engineer or similar role
Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline (4 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for education)
Two (2) years of experience and proven success in Azure design, support and management within a large-scale organization
Experience building and deploying with Linux, UNIX and Windows technologies
Understanding of industry standard system architecture and system management concepts and tools
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
Nice to Have:
Azure/Aws associate level or higher certifications
Container orchestration experience - Kubernetes, OpenShift
Software development experience in an enterprise setting
Excellent writing skills
Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
