In this position you will be responsible for assisting the Tax Controversy Manager in defending the company’s tax positions in front of various US income tax authorities.

How You'll Create Impact

• Assist with IRS examinations and appeals, including preparing responses to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, and assistance with Appeals protests and resolution negotiations.

• Manage State and Local examinations by fostering positive communication with the state auditors, preparing strategic responses to all Information Document Requests, reviewing and researching proposed audit adjustments, and preparing clear and well-supported responses to the state.

• Communicate audit findings to the tax department, as well as collaborate to identify and implement process improvements to reduce risk and ensure future compliance with agreed audit results.

• Monitor and research federal, state, and local income tax legislative changes to ensure compliance within a rapidly changing global tax environment.

• Perform tax research and document corporate income tax and tax accounting issues pertaining to both the IRS and the states.

• Identify and execute tax planning opportunities.

• Contact the IRS Service Center or state service centers and correspond on various tax account issues.

• Engage and collaborate with external advisors where appropriate.

• Perform other tax related duties and assist with special projects as required.

Your Background

• You have a CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA) certification, or are a licensed attorney.

• At least 4+ years of experience in tax with a corporate tax department involving complex entity structures and tax issues or similar public accounting firm experience.

• Bachelor's or Master's in related field; or equivalent related professional experience

• Possess attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills with ability to drive tasks to completion autonomously.

• Strong forensic skills, including ability to collect, prepare and analyze data and information to reconstruct, detect, support, or refute a position and ensure that the explanation provided reconciles with the underlying data.

• Strong technical tax research skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Excel and data analysis.

Travel Expectations

  • Up to 10%

Compensation Range: $94,000 - $115,720
