Position Title: Data Security Analyst II

Salary Range: $80,000 - $92,000

Department: Information Technology

Reports to: Data Security Manager

Location: Remote

Schedule: M-F, 9-5 EST

Position Summary:

A data security analyst specializes in cybersecurity designed to protect large amounts of data. As a data security analyst, your job duties are to monitor your organization’s current data security protocols and then recommend ways to improve security. You will be responsible for providing security and access management guidance for our data products and their platform. You may design and develop software and strategies that provide increased network security. In this role, you will develop and document best practices and standards for data access, security, encryption, and retention policies, and ensure various security and compliance requirements are adhered to. You will help document changes and train workers on how to improve internal security.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor your organization’s current data security protocols and then recommend ways to improve security.

  • Define best practices and standards for data and network security.

  • Lead the development and implementation of zero trust data protection strategies including encryption, tokenization, and data masking techniques to secure sensitive data across network and repositories

  • Work with the Business teams, IAM, Data Science, and Applications Development Teams, maintain an access management strategy including approval and grant processes to ensure individuals only have the right access to the right data for the right time to perform their function.

  • Develop, document and enforce data security policies.

  • Routinely monitor and audit access to verify security effectiveness and leverage findings for further enhancement.

  • Define and administrate a process for periodic access audits to remove unnecessary access.

  • Ensure compliance with Vibrant policies around cloud networking and data security.

  • Work with teams to enforce compliance with security standards.

  • Provide tier II support as needed for issues relating to security.

  • Conduct data analysis utilizing query languages and reporting tools as needed to audit and enforce security protocols.

  • Create dashboards to visualize the risk exposure created by access to sensitive data.

  • Manage security problems and incidents to resolution.

  • Train platform team, data providers, and data consumers on data policies and best practices.

  • Test platform security model for effectiveness as changes are introduced.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in software development preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent professional experience

  • 2-5years’ experience in database administration and management

  • Familiarity with several programming languages and international standards regarding data security.

  • Certifications in CISSP, GCIA, and SSCP or other relevant data or cyber security certification.

  • Demonstrate broad expertise and experience across all security domains, and deeper expertise and experience in two or more domains (e.g., application security, database/big data, data protection)

  • Design data security patterns and solutions for large-scale, complex systems, applications, databases, infrastructures and processes, and business initiatives which may span across teams

  • Solid understanding of cloud based IAAS, PAAS and SAAS

  • Solid understanding Encryption and Cryptography for all data sets, free-form and database including columnar

  • Experience implementing Row level security for multiple use cases.

  • Experience implementing or managing data masking techniques.

  • Working knowledge of technologies such as AWS, Snowflake, Alteryx, SQL, Tableau, or Okta.
