Job Summary
As part of a regional payroll team, this role is responsible for effective execution of payroll operations for assigned entities and countries, supporting effective and accurate payroll data collection, review, calculations, and disbursements while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of payroll reporting. This role partners with third parties to ensure optimal vendor performance, driving standardization and efficient processes, and collaboratively working with internal stakeholders in developing and maintaining trusted partnerships.
Principal Duties and Deliverables
Apply specialist knowledge and skills required to support payroll activities such as the collection, review, and analysis of full-cycle payroll related data sources for use in payroll generation for all levels of the organization, across all locations and across multiple time zones.
Ensure accurate and timely statutory filling according to local legislation
Establishes record keeping and control systems across locations/countries to provide audit-ready books and records, while establishing internal safeguards that ensure compliance.
Continuous effort in streamlining and improvement of payroll activities and related service standard to internal stakeholders and external vendors
Handle confidential information with discretion

Key Job responsibilities
Responsible for successful execution of accurate and timely payroll process including third-party disbursements of funds, benefit files and taxes consistent with local regulations.
Maintain updated knowledge of laws and regulations and executing payroll processes to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Analyze and resolve payroll related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders.
Partnering with accountants, ensure payroll related accounts are reconciled.
Ensure payroll controls and internal controls are met, and that books are audit ready.
Active player in supporting internal and external audits
Implement country/regional/global initiatives effectively and efficiently on improvement /streamline and automation in spectrum of payroll process.
Drive continuous improvement in service delivery metrics of third-party vendor performance.
Maintain payroll procedure documentation.
Able to provide back up support to teammates as necessary.
Professional Qualifications
University degree or equivalent 5 years of applicable experience in payroll processing
At least 2 years’ experience in working in Global Business Services (GBS) or Shared Services Center (SSC) environments with regional exposure across APAC markets is highly desirable. With strong understanding of standardized payroll operation, process optimization and service delivery models.
Demonstrated mathematical and data modeling skills using excel formulas, such as v-lookup, pivot tables and data filtering.
Strong expertise in payroll regulations, compliance, and statutory requirements across multiple APAC markets, particularly China (CN), Hong Kong (HK), and Taiwan (TW).
Foundational understanding of rules, regulations, policies, and practices governing wage payments, distributions, and record keeping across multiple jurisdictions.
Payroll Certification or knowledge of the fundamentals of the payroll cycle, cross-border tax compliance, gross to net, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and preparing live off cycle payrolls.
Ability to work under pressure and perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with daily activities.
Experience working in virtual teams across different time zones.
Handle confidential information with maturity and discretion.
Proactive, agile, number-sensitive, analytical, and a detailed-oriented, critical thinker.
Demonstrated fluency in English and Mandarin with ability to communicate both orally and in written form across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in additional APAC languages is a plus.
Proven ability to address questions from employees and internal stakeholders promptly and professionally.
Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize work effectively.
Working experience with SuccessFactors EC, integrations to multiple payroll platforms such as ADP GlobalView / ADP Celergo or SAP Payroll is preferrable.
Strong PC skills with a working knowledge of Excel
