DIGITAL ENGINEERING USER EXPERIENCE TEAM

This role will belong to the Global Experience Design Group, a cross-disciplinary team passionate about delivering product innovation through bringing customer experience to the forefront of business strategy, using human-centered techniques and strong cohesion with our partners, to simplify the human connection with science to enable a better world by following the pillars of empathy, simplicity, and excellence.

As an experienced UX designer in our group, you will lead the creation of delightful experiences that help us evolve our next-generation digital ecosystems. You will build positive relationships with multi-functional team members and business partners to guide the delivery of breakthrough end-to-end experiences by simplifying and distilling complex business processes into intuitive and elegant UIs.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • You'll be responsible for crafting thoughtful user experiences with a user-centered design approach, providing initial brainstorming and strategy through front-end implementation of UX/UI design for instruments, desktop, web-based, and mobile scientific analysis applications.

  • Provide design thinking and leadership to develop, pitch, and validate long-term design strategies to deliver useful, accessible, and delightful products.

  • Combine strong concepting skills with creative design & execution.

  • Understand customers and their needs through data analysis, customer research, site metrics, and feedback to apply them flexibly and plan for iterative improvements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with globally located research, engineering, product management, and other internal organizations to lead data-informed solutions representing customer needs, implementing innovative solutions, and meeting business expectations.

  • Visualize, design, and conceptualize user experiences. This includes information design hierarchy, process/screen flows, concept sketches, annotated wireframes, interactive prototypes, high-fidelity visual mockups, and optimized graphics production.

  • Work interdependently and interdisciplinary with team members on key initiatives to ensure that the creative execution maintains a strong, consistent look and feel.

  • Apply and define design patterns that will enable a consistent user experience across products and platforms.

KEYS TO SUCCESS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Engineering Design, or a related technical field.

Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience as a UX designer or interaction designer, visual designer, creative director, art director, or similar role. A project portfolio with well-documented case studies is required to be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Passionate about design, user interaction, and user research, and willing to meet new challenges.

  • Experience and understanding of user-centered design principles to lead the course of your work.

  • Proficiency in Figma or other visual design, wire-framing, and prototyping tools.

  • Up to date with the current trends, design principles, and UX standards across the web, and mobile.

  • Experience working with design systems.

  • Steady desire for innovation, balanced with business and user interaction priorities.

  • An understanding of how to advocate for customers and integrate user research into the creative process.

  • Curiosity to dig several layers deep into success metrics has a natural desire to understand key drivers.

  • Excellent teammate with strong verbal and written communication skills, storytelling ability, and the ability to speak fluently to business people, partners, and engineers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find elegant solutions to complex problems.

  • You have the ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization and in diverse contexts.
