Microsoft Corporation Senior Development Engineer - Speech in Redmond, Washington

If so, then the Speech Recognition Runtime team is the perfect place for you! Speech is a leading Natural User Interface (NUI) and being integrated into an accelerating number of Microsoft and 3 rd party products!

Speech has become more accurate and its application has become more useful - especially for user experiences in the areas of intelligent meeting transcription, dictation, and task completion. It powers Office Teams, Office Dictation, Bing, and many Copilot experiences. It is now depended on in the quickly expanding sector of Cognitive Services to power 1 st party and 3 rd party user experiences.

You will also work with experts in the areas of recognition and modeling (machine learning & AI) to develop robust and scalable speech software applied to a rich set of scenarios and languages. You'll collaborate with service and partner client teams to architect end-to-end solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Software development tasks include designing, implementing, and optimizing, high performance components and algorithms that make up the real-time recognition engines.

  • You'll find solutions to real-life problems, and support an ever-increasing portfolio of partner teams, with a continually increasing level of expectation.

  • The ideal candidates for this position would have strong programming and algorithm design skills, experience in AI/ML, preferably in the speech area, and a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality features in a highly collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidates will have speech recognition or ML background and

  • Master's degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, or engineering and Outstanding C/C++ coding skills and

  • effective and impactful written and verbal communication skills

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
