Salary:                   $203,350.00/year to $240,240.00/year + bonus + equity + benefits.

 

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Duties:

 

Plan and execute research to develop solutions to software and hardware for haptic devices with applications to augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR). Research, design, and develop new algorithms and software to improve upon Meta's current research in haptic actuators and haptic displays. Utilize technical research background to develop and run studies related to human perception, psychophysics and haptics. Develop computer software tools to aid in the creation of virtual and augmented reality demonstrations. Suggest, collect, and synthesize system requirements from stakeholders and create effective research roadmaps. Analyze and resolve software and hardware challenges from a hardware research standpoint.

 

Requirements:

 

Requires a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Control Systems Engineering or a related field. Position also requires completion of a university level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following: 1. Research in topics closely related to haptic devices, haptic rendering, psychophysics, soft robotics, machine learning, signal processing, or computer vision; 2. Experience with experimental robotics and instrumentation of mechatronic systems including integration of actuators/sensors; 3. Communicating complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner; 4. Designing and building mechatronics, or soft robotics systems for use in haptic devices; 5. Developing haptic devices and haptic software for virtual reality; 6. Developing user studies for haptic device research; 7. Developing research-oriented implementation of software for virtual reality using Unity or Unreal Engine; 8. Proficiency with Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) software; and 9. Proficiency with C#, C++, or Python.
