Microsoft Corporation Cloud Network Engineer II in Redmond, Washington
As part of Microsoft Azure, the Azure Networking team designs and builds the network infrastructure that powers hundreds of thousands of servers in datacenters around the globe, providing core network infrastructure services for Azure, Bing, and other Microsoft cloud services. In Azure Networking, we are at the very front of Cloud Computing by running one of the largest data center network infrastructures in the world . By joining this team, you will gain marketable experience in service-oriented network architectures and datacenter networking at massive scale.
For this position, you should be familiar with network protocols, network devices include network interface cards, pluggable optics, switches and routers. You should feel comfortable working with large-scale distributed systems that managing the network infrastructure that supports the Azure Cloud infrastructure as well as well in designing and building the large-scale distributed systems that manage the network.
We are looking for an Cloud Network Engineer II to enhance and improve the platform, with an emphasis on devops -- the ability to script/program to support and operate a cloud-scale network.
You should have experience uncovering and addressing network and system related problems in large scale data centers. Someone who can work to quickly mitigate impacts and restore service availability through a software enabled toolset.

Responsibilities
Coordinate and provide escalation support for datacenter network buildouts
Execute various tests (new product/features qualification, interoperability, and regression) for proving the usability of various network hadware and software in Microsoft datacenters
Configure the hardware lab set ups and maintaining network test equipment, switches, routers and various third party optical plugs (100GBE, 40GBE, 10GBE) used in the qualification process
Collaborate with partner development teams to integrate hardware into existing Azure SDN tooling
Working with internal and external vendor engineers to troubleshoot issues found during qualification and field operations and drive for resolution
Participate in “field technical support/on call rotation” to resolve issues with production networks
Maintaining the documentation of test results and updating the matrix of supported parts, ensuring proper asset management & maintaining lab documentation

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in networking, scripting, and software development. Familiarity/hands on experience with any network device operating systems (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows servers
Experience with writing automation in languages such as Python, Perl, Powershell or C#
Experience with writing scripts that use REST APIs, Syslog, xml, SNMP, and other Network Management Systems
Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals along with a basic understanding of IP networking MPLS, BGP, ISIS, OSPF and Anycast routing
Experience managing and troubleshooting network issues
Experience working on large scale networks
Leadership, coordination and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently on complex tasks
Motivated to drive leading edge technologies
Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP and AnyCast
BS in mathematics, computer science or equivalent. MSc a plus or equivalent professional experience
Cloud Network Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
