Microsoft Corporation Business Planner in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Monetization and Business Planning organization directs our commercial product portfolio’s pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Few teams exist that have such a direct impact on Microsoft and the entire industry.

As a Business Planner focused on Licensing Strategy , you will be at the forefront of how Microsoft defines, enables, markets, and lands commercial licensing strategies. Especially important is how Microsoft’s customers, field, and partners consume our licensing policies . We are looking for someone to help execute on our strategy and vision of how Microsoft’s licensing policies and terms are shared and communicated to audiences, including our generative AI initiatives to enhance audience experiences with Microsoft licensing.

Responsibilities

In this role, some of the initiatives you’ll work on include:

  • Developing licensing readiness materials, ensuring all key stakeholders contribute to, review, and approve materials prior to publishing.

  • Intake, triage, and respond to complex licensing questions in a prompt, efficient, and repeatable manner.

  • Manage ongoing updates and maintenance of our licensing taxonomy and existing licensing materials, including monitoring for duplication and stake information.

  • Developing additional subject matter expertise in Microsoft licensing, product use rights, agreement terms, and program terms.

  • Making best use of our generative AI services to modernize and enhance audience experiences with Microsoft licensing.

  • Developing quarterly reporting on trends and feedback on licensing questions and generative AI responses.

Qualifications

Req uired/Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years product marketing, product management, program management, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience

  • Understanding of Microsoft licensing and commercial agreements

  • Experience in creating, organizing, and managing the delivery of licensing or equally complex policy content

  • Understanding of software/technology industry licensing concepts, monetization, and approaches

  • Experience explaining and simplifying complex policy content into easy to understand scenarios and examples

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to develop tight, collaborative relationships with legal, finance, product marketing, product management, and engineering in an efficient and iterative manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years product marketing, product management, program management, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field

  • OR 3+ years product marketing, product management, program management, UX design or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Juris Doctor (JD) or related field

  • OR equivalent experience

  • Experience in content creation and content management strategies to train Large Language Models

Business Planning IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
