Microsoft Corporation Business Intelligence Developer in Redmond, Washington

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to build data and reporting solutions for the people who are powering the cloud.

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I the Infrastructure Planning and Acquisition (IPA) team drives the early-stage planning and acquisition functions that will enable the cloud of tomorrow.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be building Power BI semantic models and reports that support operations, planning, and decision making across all aspects of the Energy function in IPA. The Energy team is responsible for ensuring that Microsoft datacenters have the power they need today and well into the future, and that Microsoft can meet its ambitious Renewable Energy goals. You will work with business stakeholders to collect requirements, with engineering partners to maintain data sources, and with your teammates to continuously improve our development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Power BI semantic models that can support multiple reports and self-service users.

  • Build and maintain Power BI reports giving the Energy team the data and insights to monitor operations, analyze performance, and communicate progress against objectives.

  • Work closely with users and stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and drive good design.

  • Collaborate with CO+I Engineering to ensure report stability across deployments.

  • Drive continuous improvement through good documentation, adherence to agile methodology, and commitment to measuring success.

  • Be an active member of the Business Intelligence (BI) Center of Excellence by staying up to date on technology and proactively participating in efforts to document and promote Power BI best practice.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data modeling OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of industry experience building and managing Power BI reports

Other Requirements :

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in DAX and Power Query development.

  • Experience building Power BI semantic models.

  • Experience modelling data from sources such as Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, SAP, or other ERP systems.

Customer Solutions Architecture IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
