City Of Red Wing Engineering Field Technician I/II in Red Wing, Minnesota
Provides engineering support services, including but not limited to performing initial surveys; staking construction sites; completing inspections during the construction of public and private projects. Creates final construction record drawings. Assists with design, drafting, and cost estimating of construction projects. The applicant chosen for the position may be hired as a Tech I or Tech II depending on experience and qualifications: Salary Range for Tech I: $29.04 - $38.98 per hour Salary Range for Tech II: $34.81 - $46.73 per hour Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: Day-to-Day: Stake out construction plans, provide grades and alignment for street improvements, including streets, curb, gutter, water, and sewer. Conduct precise topographic surveys and associated engineering work. Conduct materials testing to ensure products meet state, federal and project specifications. Collect survey data, downloads data into computer, and ensures accuracy of data so accurate CAD drawings can be developed. Attends construction meetings to address issues and concerns prior to and during construction. Locate existing utilities and stake proposed utilities for contractors and construction crews. Perform field construction inspection and evaluation on most municipal types of construction work. Record calculations, measurements, and data in the field and at construction sites. Perform drafting tasks requiring the reduction of field notes to plan and map form and create other drawings as required. Estimate quantities and costs for City projects. Develop permanent record drawings and documents for construction work; contract records and documentation must be detailed and maintained to withstand audit. Use field information to make required changes to plans. Use Item Record Account to track all pay items on a contract; pay items must be precisely calculated, measured, and kept for proper documentation. Conduct surveys for stormwater management and ensure compliance with Pollution Control Agency regulations. Update City maps and documents. Work with other City departments to obtain information that will have an effect on project design. Performs data entry and may prepare construction drawings using AutoCAD drafting software. Regularly: Provide engineering support to all City departments and citizens; answer inquiries and provide information upon approval as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
