WSP USA Technologist, Bridges in Red Deer, Alberta

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Bridge Technologist to join our Bridges group, located at our Red Deer, AB office. Reporting to the Bridge Manager, this position will give you the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including traditional multi-disciplinary design-bid-build and alternative-delivery projects, which allows you to develop your experience on coordinating with project managers and design engineers. This includes preparation of preliminary and detailed design drawings, participation in structural inspections, technical documentation, construction supervision, contract administration, and other related activities.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Mainly prepare CAD drawings, however other duties assigned might include:

  • Conduct inspections of existing bridges, culverts and retaining walls and prepare reports;

  • Prepare technical construction specifications;

  • Participate in major inspection programs; and

  • Contract and Construction Administration.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Diploma from a Technician or Technologist program in Structural, Civil, or Transportation Engineering;

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply as well;

  • Experience using AutoCAD & MicroStation, preferably in a consulting/design environment; Experience with highway, rail, and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and other civil structures is considered an asset;

  • AT Bridge Inspection and Maintenance (BIM) certification is an asset;

  • Working experience in Civil 3D, 3D modelling, and/or Revit is an asset;

  • Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills; and

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
