The Profeta Farmer's Kitchen Cooks are responsible for creating the highest quality, most delicious food possible using the meats produced by the farm. Our expert Farmer's Kitchen Cooks know that “low and slow” cooking, organic grass-fed meats, and careful technique will produce smoked food that customers will crave! The Profeta Farms Cook is organized, energetic, and passionate about high-quality food. Our cooks are expected to maintain the highest level of quality, food safety, cleanliness, and production standards. Profeta farm products are produced with the utmost care for our customers, our animals, and our land. The Farmer's Kitchen Cooks must treat these products with the same extreme level of care and thoughtfulness. This position must be dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and resourcefulness to adhere to this new culinary vision. Our Farmer's Kitchen team must maintain positive relationships, integrity, and honesty with both fellow employees and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and the highest quality food to our market visitors; go above and beyond to provide a superior experience and taste to the customer

• Create smoked meats, fish, and vegetables that create customer buzz, excite our team, and create a focal point in the store.

• Learn and be able to educate customers on Profeta Farms’ organic and sustainable agricultural practices, values, and products

• Work well with team members while also remaining focused and motivated without supervision

• Maintenance of production equipment by proper technique and cleaning schedules

• Respond to customer questions, requests, and complaints in a professional manner

• Accurately and promptly report complaints to management

• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Employee Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures

• Adherence to recipes and cooking procedures while always looking to innovate and add exciting new menu options.

• Presentation so that food looks delicious, wholesome, and fresh

• Pay attention to detail and constantly check products for quality assurance, pulling any products that are past date or past their peak of freshness

• Proper rotation and organization of reach-in and walk-in refrigerators.

• Correct date labeling.

• Ensure that the market is fully stocked and clean at all times

• Follow opening and closing prescriptions

• Maintain a clean work station and follow sanitation and food safety guidelines

• Take inventory of products, as directed by market managers

• Perform miscellaneous tasks, as directed by managers

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Creativity and culinary focus

• Strengths in flexibility and teamwork

• Self-starter, eager to learn and participate in a growing company

• Be able to operate and properly maintain production equipment

• Be able to do basic math and follow recipes

• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation

• Affinity for local, sustainable, and organic produce

• Organization toward the purpose of eliminating wasted food

• Must be able to work weekends, evenings, very early mornings, and summer holidays

Physical Requirements

• Lift or move up to 50 pounds, unassisted

• Carry, kneel, bend, and stand for long periods of time

Required Work Experience

• 1-year or more BBQ/ Smoker production experience.

Compensation: Based on experience. Competitive base salary plus upside based on financial performance of market and successful utilization of Profeta Farms products. Benefits include PTO, medical insurance, life insurance, and a stipend of food from the farm.
