Under the direction of the EH&S Manager and senior members of the EH&S staff, the Senior EH&S Specialist will provide technical assistance for industrial hygiene, occupational safety and biological safety. Principal activities will include industrial hygiene leadership and support, chemical substance management, occupational safety program management, biological safety program support and general customer service in support of the Johnson & Johnson, Raritan, NJ campus.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and support as the key industrial hygiene contact supporting the Raritan, NJ campus. This includes conducting comprehensive qualitative & quantitative risk assessments, interpretation of results and implementation of control measures (following the hierarchy of controls) to minimize occupational exposures.
Support occupational safety programs at the campus including, but not limited to construction safety, contractor safety, permit to work for high-hazard work activities, warehouse and transportation safety, and compliance with OSHA and Johnson & Johnson EH&S requirements.
Perform incident investigations for good saves (near misses), workplace injuries and incidents
Provide leadership and support for the laboratory safety program which includes conducting laboratory inspections, chemical management, active engagement with laboratory safety committee, EH&S training development and implementation.
Support biological safety officer and overall management of the biological safety program in protocol reviews, risk assessments, training and data management.
Qualifications - External
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or another technical field is required.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
A minimum of 2 years of EH&S experience
Experience in developing, leading, supervising and maintaining EH&S procedures and programs.
Knowledge of local, state and federal EH&S regulations.
Strong industrial hygiene and occupational safety background.
Classroom and virtual training skills.
Experience in identifying, evaluating, and controlling EH&S hazards.
Preferred:
Certifications such as a Professional Engineer, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Laboratory safety, biological safety and contractor safety program implementation.
Ability to interpret regulatory issues and provide solutions for remediation.
Other:
- Requires up to 10% domestic travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$77,000- $124,200
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
