Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

The Sr. Maintenance Lead position modifies, rebuilds, repairs, and restores machines and equipment including electronic and electrical equipment and controls. The Sr. Maintenance Lead shall be an effective leader within the department by creating pm/service work orders, assigning tasks, and following up to ensure work is being completed safely, correctly and in a timely manner.

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

As the Sr. Maintenance Lead you will have an opportunity to:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to maintain operation of conveyors and sorter equipment and "Lock-Out/Tag-Out" down equipment as necessary involving 3-phase 480 volt and industrial electrical systems, motor controls and related electronic equipment.

  • Performs emergency and scheduled repairs, installations and modifications, coordinates with DC supervisors, managers, for the scheduling of repair and maintenance services. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions Diagnose, troubleshoot, and appropriately notify IT of network/communication issues between WMS and PLC systems.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair of equipment such as conveyors, scales, carousel systems, compactors, flow racks, pallet racks, shelving systems, pallet jacks, and safety equipment; adjust or repair equipment; replace and lubricate parts as needed. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

  • Adjust and/ or calibrate devices and control instruments

  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory and supplies; assist in purchasing; order, stock, and document inventory.

  • Constructs /Fabricates adaptations of needed parts as required.

  • Coordinate/supervise contractors and vendors

  • Develop and maintain service records, including scheduled and actual maintenance; document repair date, required repairs, parts or inventory sourcing, and cost.

  • Manage the Hazwaste and recycling programs

  • Serve as back-up for building maintenance; troubleshoot, repair or replace parts and equipment such as lights, ballasts, switches, outlets, fixtures, plumbing, HVAC systems; perform miscellaneous carpentry, painting, and janitorial duties as necessary.

  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

  • Maintain ongoing relationships and serves as member on various committees to represent departmental and/or overall company interests; communicate company needs and expectations internally or externally; provide review, input and recommendation as appropriate.

You have:

  • Technical/Vocational School Certificate in Industrial Electronic Technology or Industrial Maintenance and/or equivalent experience required.

  • Five to seven (5-7) years’ experience in maintenance troubleshooting or equipment/machine repair (preferred)

  • 5 years of experience as an industrial mechanic, industrial electrician, conveyor installer or equivalent.

  • Extensive technical knowledge of electronics and equipment operation required.

  • Knowledge of conveyor systems, control panels, relays, and sensing devices

  • Experience with Inkjet and laser printers.

  • Highly proficient at understanding and following specifications and instruction

  • Basic understanding of and proficient using MS Applications

  • Manual dexterity required for operating equipment/machinery and tools.

  • Able to work at heights in and out of the building, work in confined spaces as needed, and be able to physically access equipment and facility features to perform required work.

  • Basic knowledge of carpentry and mechanics (including pneumatics and hydraulics)

  • The ability to frequently lift items weighing an average of 20 to 30 pounds with a maximum of 65 pounds throughout a full shift of work.

  • Effective oral communication skills in one-on-one and small group situations.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence and basic directions.

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop or sit for an extended periods of time.

  • Strong problem solving and math skills.

  • Ability to effectively relate with others and cooperate as a team member.

  • Ability to perform essential functions and responsibilities of the job with limited supervision.

  • Must be flexible.

  • Careful attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to rely on judgment for personal safety regarding work.

  • SAFETY - Observes all safety rules and regulations; exercises care and good judgment at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • Operates and uses all equipment following standard work instructions and operating procedures.

  • Certified (as required by law or company) to operate Scissor-lift, Stand-up/Sit down forklifts safely.

  • Excellent proven safety record

  • HOUSEKEEPING - Practices good housekeeping by keeping work area, neighboring areas and aisles clean and accessible.

  • Properly collects and disposes of waste following established guidelines.

  • FLEXIBILITY - Ability to work flexible schedule including being on call. COMPANY AND CORPORATE RESPONSIBILTIES -- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, rules and Company Code of Conduct

  • Years of Experience 5-7 Licenses/Certifications Required Technical/Vocational School Certificate in Industrial Technology or Industrial Maintenance or equivalent

  • Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Regularly stand, sit, walk, climb stairs and work at heights from floor to 40 feet high

  • Frequently lift and shift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum of 65 lbs throughout a full shift of work

  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, hands, and legs. Moving of whole body to lift, reach, grasp, crawl into awkward positions, balance and stoop when handling warehouse materials for an extended period of time and or an entire work shift

Pay Range:

$26.91 - $37.51

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
