The primary purpose of this role is to provide consultation and technical direction on translating business requirements and functional specifications into Splunk solutions. This includes gathering business requirements, helping others understand enterprise logging capabilities to achieve compliance to enterprise standards. This role serves as a Splunk technical expert for application and platform owners, cyber partners and the Splunk community at Truist. In addition, this role personally builds, supports and maintains the Splunk Enterprise platform for Truist, including supporting OS teams with patching and Splunk Enterprise Upgrades.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Resolves complex problems spanning multiple applications to drive improvements across the Splunk platform; leads efforts with significant business implications, participates in planning and priority estimates, and advises Software Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Application and Platform owners, and Cyber Teammates on Splunk solutions;

  2. Educates others on current architectural standards and guidelines to drive efficiency when leading the design efforts of complex business and enterprise software solutions.

  3. Builds and troubleshoots Splunk Infrastructure and associated data feeds in a Linux environment.

  4. Performs Health checks of the Splunk environment, troubleshoot and restore service

  5. Supports OS teams with monthly server patching for Splunk components.

  6. Performs Splunk Enterprise Upgrades on Splunk components.

  7. Performs troubleshooting of existing feeds that are no longer collecting data (quiet source monitoring).

8.Interacts with Splunk user base for the development, management and tuning of Splunk dashboards, knowledge objects, ad-hoc/scheduled searches and alerts.

  1. Leads data onboarding requirement discussions with consumers of Splunk Enterprise to determine scope and feasibility

  2. Interprets and applies new technical and system capabilities as needed to provide updates, enhancements, and modifications to an existing Splunk environment.

  3. Integrates data streams, feeds from network, infrastructure services, mission critical/business applications into Splunk using the Splunk Universal Forwarder, Syslog, Splunk Heavy Forwarders and Splunk HEC Clusters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field

  2. Five to seven years of experience in software development or a related field

  3. Five to seven years of experience in database technologies

  4. Five to seven years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field, Master's Degree preferred

  2. Current Certification as a Splunk Administrator

  3. Current Certification as a Splunk Architect

  4. 5+ years of experience building, troubleshooting and supporting Splunk Infrastructure and associated data feeds in a clustered, multi-site Linux environment.

  5. 5+ years of experience onboarding data to Splunk Enterprise (Hosted on-Premise)

  6. 1+ years of experience onboarding data to AWS and/or Azure cloud hosted Splunk Enterprise environments

  7. 5+ years of experience with complex Splunk Deployment strategies that include standard and tiered Splunk deployment model, GitLab/GitHub, Ansible and/or Cribl.

  8. 7+ years of experience with Architecting and Infrastructure Engineering Splunk in On-Premise, AWS and/or Azure cloud Splunk environments.
