SENIOR REVENUE ACCOUNTANT
Raleigh, NC
Pay Rate $65 - $90/HR
Jefferson Wells has an immediate need for a Senior Revenue Accountant for a client in Raleigh-Durham. This is a great opportunity to work with a company that places high value on culture and growth. The Senior Revenue Accountant opening is a contract engagement with the possibility of converting to permanent employment with our client.
SUMMARY
Spearhead revenue recognition compliance and process improvements through cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare month-end and quarter-end analytical and flux analyses to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Research and analyze complex revenue recognition issues and prepare financial analyses and memos to support business decisions.
- Review customer contracts for revenue recognition, establishing and maintaining billing schedules, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables in accordance with ASC 606 and IFRS 15.
• Assist in the month-end close by validating orders and quotes, preparing journal entries, analyses, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards using NetSuite and Salesforce.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Sales, and other teams to enhance processes, support business integrations, and improve revenue accounting practices.
• Ensure proper application and collection of sales and use tax in customer contracts.
• Support external auditors during annual financial statement audits and recommend improvements to existing practices.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and manage special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS MUST HAVE
• 3-4 years of experience at a Big Four or national public accounting firm, or 4+ years combined public accounting and industry experience in revenue technical accounting.
• Proven experience with ASC 606 or IFRS 15 and technical research in accounting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with proactive communication and a detail-oriented, creative, problem-solving approach.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, index/match, sum-ifs, pivot tables, subtotals, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with NetSuite ERP and Salesforce.
• Advanced technical and operational knowledge in areas such as Clinical Research Organizations, measure of progress revenue recognition, data licensing, and/or SaaS revenue recognition.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA
