The OCI Reliability team is a group of passionate and talented engineers who are dedicated to ensuring the highest level of availability and reliability for OCI services and customers. We are building new technologies that automate the detection, diagnosis, and recovery of operational events for OCI global distributed cloud services. This position is in PST Time Zone, for working closely with development teams both in the US and in Australia; it can be hybrid or remote.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced talented and passionate Principal UX Designer who's excited by the challenge of crafting simple user experiences for complex, data-intensive operational workflows. We are building a unique combination of automation and interactive visualisation tooling to deliver revolutionary applications that help our customers quickly triage, diagnose and resolve complex incidents involving Cloud services failures and mitigate customer impact under time pressure. Getting UX and UI right plays a critical role in our products. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work with the Product Management, stakeholders, and the development team to define the future of services used daily by all OCI teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply domain expertise to reconcile design best practices with business needs.

• Collaborate with product managers, developers, leadership and subject matter experts to understand user needs, problems, and goals across diverse use cases.

• Contribute to product roadmaps by identifying areas of need and engaging with stakeholders to scope work.

• Design and envision concepts and experiences that meet our customers' needs.

• Develop design strategies and iterate on designs based on feedback, research, and data.

• Contribute to design specifications and help evolve Oracle’s internal and external-facing design systems.

• Partner with engineering teams from design to handoff, ensuring designs are implemented according to specifications

• Present solutions, approaches, and choices made during the design process.

• Advocate for a user-centered culture by involving the team in feedback from customers, sharing insights, and creating empathy.

• Develop user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, and objective analyses.

• Contribute to improving our design standards and processes to further enhance our design practices.

• Ensure the delivery of a consistent user experience across the product.

• Collaborate with Product Management to research user behavior through interviews, usability tests, and other research methodologies.

• Use Figma to create and communicate concepts, wireframes, and detailed design solutions.

• Deliver quick prototypes to demonstrate and visualize concepts.

• Provide professional guidance and constructive feedback to leadership, team members, and other stakeholders.

• Lead, mentor and coach junior members in the team.

• Raise the bar for quality, attention to details and best practices.

Qualifications

• An outstanding portfolio of thoughtfully designed products demonstrating concept to final product.

• 7+ years of UX and UI design experience

• Full-stack UX design capabilities in products with high-complexity visual components.

• Experience designing enterprise products, preferably in operations, system monitoring, automation, incident management tools, or other related industries (experience shipping Cloud applications is a plus)

• Experience designing rich data visualizations, complex professional tools, flexible enterprise platforms, AI utilities, or related design solutions

• In-depth understanding of the entire product development lifecycle including liaising with product management, writing technical specification, assisting to make product impacting decisions, architecting and designing world-class services.

• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to create, drive and evangelize cross-team processes and achieve org-wide impact.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with varying timelines, degrees of complexity, and scope.

• Familiarity with Web UI development (ReactJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS) and ability to understand the dev team part of Full Stack development experience.

• Your application must include links to an online portfolio or have an offline version attached.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
