U.S. Marine Corps VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST in Quantico, Virginia

Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will design fact sheets, reports, brochures and other web and print-oriented documents using Adobe Creative Suite and other software. You will research and prepare visual material for executive level presentations. You will prepare sketches and preliminary layouts to convey proposed presentations. You will create new art or adapt existing material to help convey thought and meet the readers' needs. You will conduct electronic, online, or manual research to select relevant data and art from varied sources. You will determine format and color treatment, considering the vehicle of presentation, time available and methods of production. You will demonstrate the ability to apply concepts, templates, and page design and layout techniques of desktop publishing software (such as Adobe InDesign). You will manage current and historical files for the visual material production effort, including accurate electronic file management and archives. You will take and edit photographs of people and material on location or within a studio setting to be featured in various materials including the MCSC webpage and social media sites. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band NH-02 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Visual Information Series 1084 (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This announcement uses the direct hire authority for AcqDemo Business & Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Several vacancies may be filled. Relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5743 may be authorized in accordance with applicable regulations. PCS is not authorized.
