U.S. Marine Corps Supply Technician/Motor Vehicle Operator NF3 Regular Full-Time in Quantico, Virginia
Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities Performs a wide range of supply/warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, and shipping a variety of supplies, materials, equipment and resale merchandise. Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments/trucks. Maintains all warehouse inventory records by compiling a variety of records and logs and prepare reports as required; maintains inventory of items in the warehouse; enters receiving and transfer documents into database and files. Will perform the duties and responsibilities of the Property Manager in his absence. Ability to obtain Marine Corps Base Quantico 3/5 ton truck operators license. Operates and performs operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 lbs. Maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground and in narrow or congested areas, directs arranging of cargo and sometimes assists to spread the load for best support and to insure proper unloading sequence. Ensures cargo is secured to prevent shifting or falling while in transit, and to minimize vehicle sway. Selects safest, most direct, and legally allowed route and identifies alternative routes for emergency situations. Operates vehicles on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades. Observes applicable safety and sanitation rules and regulations. Reports over, short, or damaged conditions. Completes and signs shipping and receiving reports. Delivers material and equipment to correct locations or storage areas. Stacks, bins, rotates and marks/prices stock in accordance with standard warehouse procedures. Locates, accesses, loads, and moves material for shipment and verifies or prepares documents either manually or by using automated equipment such as computer terminals and bar code wands to read, store, track and prepare materials documentation. Ability to operate warehouse fork lifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks and other general purpose warehouse equipment and perform routine operator maintenance. Counts types and quantities of items during inventories. Recounts or searches other storage locations to assist in determining the basis for over, short, or misplaced items. Processes work orders by completing Requests and Issues form to charge the correct cost centers for manager approval. Conducts functional tests and does minor repairs on equipment such as popcorn machines, snow cone machines, sporting equipment, corn hole, barbecue portable grills, moon bounces, etc. Moves and relocates office and commercial equipment to include; desk, cabinets, commercial refrigeration units and commercial kitchen equipment to and from MCCS facilities. Equipment will need to be moved through hallways, up and down stairwells and through tight spaces. Issues, delivers, and receives equipment to and from designated sites for special events. Supports base functions and assists with setting up delivered items, i.e. tables, chairs, tents, etc. Maintains file retention locker. Shreds out dated files as required. Responds to requests for equipment used for base functions/activities/events. Delivers and picks up tables and chairs. May assist with setting up and tearing tents for base functions. Manages and maintains, the MCCS GovDeals.com website. Performs market research on the value of the equipment, create detailed equipment descriptions and post photos on the site. Monitors the website emails, answer questions from buyers and coordinates the pickup of equipment. Updates the site when transactions are completed. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to, assisting the Property Manager with managing the fixed asset inventory and Prepaid warehouse supplies. Assumed the duties of the Property Manager in his absence. Utilizes hand-operated snow blowers, truck driven snowplows and ice chippers for snow/ice removal from sidewalks, steps, entrances and parking areas. Removes snow and ice by scraping, chipping, and/or spreading chemicals and/or sand. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A minimum of one year of experience that demonstrates knowledge of the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of business mathematics, excellent communication skills verbal and written. This is a mixed position which requires the ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance. Moderate to heavy physical effort required when loading, unloading and delivering equipment and supplies. Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Skill in operating vehicles to include; sedans, pickup trucks and box trucks. Knowledge and skill in selecting legal and alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic or other delaying conditions. Ability in turning vehicles in congested locations, evaluating condition and load limits of bridges, in scheduling weigh points, and in assessing traffic conditions and hazards locally and over long-distance routes in unfamiliar geographic areas. Ability to read a map and reach unfamiliar locations. Must possess or be able to acquire applicable valid state and/or government license. This position is mission essential.
