Overview
NETWORK ENGINEER | TIER III (MIELS):
Bowhead is seeking Network Engineers to support a customer in Stafford, VA. Support for the contract will consist of program management; logistics; asset management; engineering; customer service; research and development of new capabilities; test and evaluation; manpower, training, and personnel; new equipment fielding and training; financial management; information assurance; cybersecurity; and 24X7 enterprise services operations and sustainment.
Responsibilities
This is a senior-level position that requires expertise in network architecture, protocols, and technologies.
A successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.
Network Design and Architecture:
o Design and implement network architectures that meet business requirements and DoD best practices.
o Develop and maintain network topology diagrams, documentation, and configuration management.
o Understands and implements DISA Security Technical Implantation Guides (STIG) for network gear.
- Network Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
o Troubleshoot complex network issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
o Collaborate with Tier I and II engineers to resolve network issues, providing guidance and expertise.
- Network Security and Compliance:
o Ensure network security and compliance with DoD standards and regulations.
o Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Network Operations and Maintenance:
o Perform network upgrades, patches, and maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and impact.
o Monitor network performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations.
- Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, development, and operations.
o Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, providing clear explanations and solutions.
- Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing:
o Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and training on network technologies and best practices.
o Share knowledge and expertise with the team, contributing to the development of network engineering best practices.
- Project Management:
o Lead or participate in network-related projects, ensuring timely completion and successful outcomes.
o Develop and manage project plans, resource allocation, and budgeting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
Ten (10+) years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years’ experience in a Tier III role.
Proven experience with network design, implementation, and maintenance.
Cisco Certified Network Expert (CCIE) or equivalent certification.
In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
Expertise in network technologies, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
Experience with network management systems, such as SNMP, NMS, and monitoring tools.
Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED:Must currently hold a security clearance at theTop Secret/SCI level with Counter Intelligence Polygraph. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location.
