This is a permanent full-time role based in SYDNEY (hybrid work model)

Enough about us! What youll do as the Australia Controller:

As part of the Paramount Global Controllers team, this highly visible role is responsible for all the Controllers activities in Australia. The core responsibilities include the timely and accurate statutory accounting of the various legal entities, external industry reporting, tax compliance, as well as all monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reporting.

Functions will also include:

  • Lead and develop a team of 3 professionals based in Australia

  • Overall responsibility for Statutory Account preparation for the 3 key Australian entities

  • Act as the principal contact with external audit teams for annual audits and financial statements preparation, resolving any barriers to completion in a timely manner

  • Month end / Quarter end / Year End reporting, including the month end close process, PY variance reporting, Balance Sheet Flux reporting, Hub packs, and some balance sheet review.

  • Support Global Tax team for all local tax reporting

  • Support systems implementations (S4 Hana) and process change and process improvement

  • Coordination locally on all treasury issues.

  • Coordination with the internal Compliance team

  • Key interface between the Controllers team and Finance team; and other global finance functions including RTR, PTP, Expenses, and Payroll.

  • Responsibility for Statistics returns (ABS)

What are we looking for in a Controller? Whats important?

  • CA Qualified, big four background & commercial finance experience

  • SAP or similar ERP experience required along with MS Office Suite

  • Minimum 10 years experience in accounting, including leading and developing a team

  • Audit and statutory reporting experience essential

  • Both IFRS (Australia) and USGAAP practical experience with ability to write accounting papers as needed.

  • Experience working with the ATO, Tax consultants, Fringe Benefit tax, etc.

  • Experience working within complex multinational entities with offshore shared services and, preferably with a US parent company

  • A focused and effective leader, providing guidance to an eager team of professionals

  • Ability to recognise and adapt communication style relevant to the situation at hand

  • Ability to prioritise and execute time management in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to communicate at a senior level internally (local management) and externally (at Partner level)

  • Flexibility to meet with individuals in various time zones when required
