Summary of Duties:

 

The Director for Health Equity Education (DHEE) reports to the Associate Dean for Community, Health Equity and Belonging. The incumbent is responsible for serving as a thought leader for the college as it pertains to the development, design, coordination, and implementation of health equity education in the curriculum and across the college.

 

The incumbent is expected to foster a positive and inclusive academic environment for learners and faculty alike. The DHEE will collaborate with college leadership to ensure integration of health equity education across the continuum of learning.

 

This is a 12-month annual, continuous, career track faculty role with sub-track and rank determined at time of selection based on incumbent's qualifications. The career sub-track may be Clinical, Teaching, Scholarly or Research as described in section titled "Sub-tracks for Academic or Extension Faculty" of the https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/3253/2023/09/FacultyManual2023-2024-All-Changes-Accepted-II.pdf [section number IB1.c)(2)]. In accordance with the Faculty Manual, the additional administrative role of Director is fixed-term and serves at the discretion of Chair, Dean and/or Executive Vice President of Health Sciences regardless of term.

 

The incumbent may be based at any of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Clinical Campuses in WA State such as Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, or Everett.

 

The position allows for flexibility in FTE to accommodate the incumbent's clinical and/or research activities.

 

Scope of Work:

 

Educational Program Health Equity Curriculum

 

Vertically and horizontally integrate the curricular and assessment framework for the Health Equity thread for the education programs (e.g. MD, Speech and Hearing, Graduate Medical Education, etc.) in the college.

 

At the direction of and in partnership with the leaders of the education programs in the college:

 

• Develop learning objectives, activities, and assessment methodologies to assure program goals/outcomes are met.

• Ensure continuity and integration across the curriculum, including appropriate spiraling of content, use of the full spectrum of learning modalities, and assessment alignment with developmental milestones.

• Develop and/or review assessment methodologies when requested.

• Assist, as needed, in advising learners who are having difficulty achieving expected learn
