Providence Public Library Coding Instructor (contractor) in Providence, Rhode Island
CODING INSTRUCTOR FOR TEENS
(part time contractor)
6 hours per week September - December 12, 2024 (Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 - 5pm, and includes 2 hours of curriculum development work per week)
12 hours per week January 21 - May 15, 2025 (Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30 - 5:30pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 -5pm, and includes two hours of prep per week per class)
We would consider candidates who are only able to or interested in teaching one of the classes listed above, but preference will be given to candidates willing to teach both.
Providence Public Library (PPL) is
currently seeking a coding instructor for our teen after school coding programs. The ideal candidate will be able to:
- train with the current instructor (observing and participating in classes September - December 12, 2024, Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 - 5pm)
- develop curriculum for a new Web Design and Intermediate CSS class with support from Teen Services staff (September - December 2024)
- teach two coding classes (JavaScript and Web Design/Intermediate CSS) January 21, 2025 - May 15, 2025
- Rhode Coders 2.0 - Web Design and Intermediate CSS: Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:30pm, January 22 - May 14
- Rhode Coders 2.0 - JavaScript: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3 to 5pm, January 21 - May 15

PPLs Rhode Coders 2.0 courses
provide a foundation of web-development programming and coding for students with no or some previous coding experience. Students learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript along with programming fundamentals using a fun and game-oriented approach
. Participants in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to earn .5 high school credit through the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDEs) All Coursework Network initiative.
The Instructor will deliver the Rhode Coders 2.0 curricula and support teens throughout these courses.
