Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures
Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks
Provide safety training to associates, including to both new hires as well as refresher trainings to existing associates
Conducts written and practical MHE training for all new and existing associates
Supports the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses
Maintain safety records and documentation as required
Collaborate with Operations Leadership to address safety concerns
Contribute to the development of safety orientations for new hires and contractors
Participate in Safety Committee meetings and discussions as needed
Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and best practices
Communicate directly with associates about best safety practices
Monitors all ID badges for entry/ exit compliance to the facility as needed
Responds to Emergency situations, such as medical, fire, weather, hazardous material, and security related incidents and takes appropriate actions, as stated in Ollies policy
Any additional responsibilities as identified from Operations Leadership or the Safety Manager
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, not required
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial setting
Basic understanding of safety principles and willingness to learn and apply new concepts
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and communicate safety procedures to associates at all levels
Demonstrated ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and investigations
Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail in identifying and addressing safety hazards
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from supervisors
Ability to work a flexible schedule in order to support both 1st shift and 2nd shift hours based on new hire allocation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds
Ability to bend and twist frequently
Must have ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
