The State of New Hampshire, Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services has a full-time vacancy for Maintenance Technician.

Summary:

Performs technical maintenance and repair to the base's infrastructure, facilities, and utility systems at Pease Air National Guard Base.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:Associate's degree from a recognized technical school with a major in mechanical or electrical technology or maintenance. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience:Five years' experience in the operation and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical equipment used in buildings, with at least two years' supervisory experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification:Valid drivers license is required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to satisfactorily undergo a State Police records check.

  2. Must pass a National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) used in the performance of assigned work duties and be eligible for renewal as a condition of employment.

  3. Must be in good physical condition with normal strength and agility.

  4. This position is designated as Essential Personnel, which may require the employee to report to their job site or are on stand-by, during emergency situations, such as snow and other inclement weather or building emergency situations. When needed, overtime in support of snow removal operations is mandatory due to the critical nature of the Pease Air National Guard Bases refueling missions.

Responsibilities:

Performs technical repair and maintenance of the base-wide heating systems to include heat pumps, domestic hot water systems, satellite boilers, and auxiliary equipment such as water softeners, pumps, and control valves. Maintains, repairs, and installs various coils used in HVAC applications such as direct exchange coils, heat coils, heat exchangers, condenser coils, evaporator coils, and domestic hot water coils, minimal downtime is critical.

Maintains, repairs, and installs various air conditioning equipment, including window air conditioning units, heat pumps, package, and split-units of multitude sizes with direct exchange coils, and chilled water systems. Maintains and repairs various air handlers and their associated components, such as air filters, motors, motor controls, line starters, dampers, damper motor (electric and pneumatic), and belts, including various variable air volume systems and all related components to the variable air volume systems.

Troubleshoots and performs technical maintenance and repair on various control systems for the HVAC systems. Troubleshooting field devices and components such as control circuits, modulating motors, electronic temperature transmitters, electronic pressure transmitters, and binary and analog input/output circuit boards to keep the system functional.

Works on low and high voltage (over 600 volts) distribution systems (switch gears, distribution panels, branch circuits, transformers, etc.), building wiring systems, etc. Maintains, repairs, and installs motors, lights, controls, electric equipment; replaces components (coils, starters, switches, etc.), and performs all mechanical work required in repairing and replacing parts.

Performs electrical support to maintenance personnel working on facility maintenance tasks as required. Support may include, but is not limited; to installing, troubleshooting, and repairing various electrical components such as lights, outlets, switches, electrical equipment, transformers, and distribution systems.

Maintains, repairs, and installs a variety of electronic fire alarm and detection equipment to include fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, signaling devices, and electronic smoke alarms such as dual ionization systems and photoelectric systems.

Troubleshoots and performs maintenance and repair on piping and plumbing systems for domestic water systems, geo-thermal heating / cooling systems, compressed air, gas, and fuel oil. Provides installation and maintenance of a water distribution system to include maintenance and repair of fire hydrants, water meters, back-flow preventers, and water storage tanks.

Maintains, repairs, and installs dry and wet sprinkler systems, which include foam systems for the aircraft hangars. Maintenance includes weekly, monthly, and annual testing of the systems to verify that they are in accordance with local, state, and federal fire codes.
