PacArctic, LLC (PAC), a Koniag Government Services company, is hiring an experienced HVAC Maintenance Mechanic to support PAC and our government customer in Portsmouth, NH. This position requires the ability to obtain an MRPT .

Pac Arctic, LLC is looking for a highly qualified, experienced and self-motivated individual to perform the duties of HVAC Mechanic for three government buildings located in the same complex. The HVAC Mechanic performs a variety of services relating to the maintenance, repair and operation of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems, including chillers, boilers, radiators, refrigeration compressors, refrigeration units, water treatment, air ducts, Central Utility Plant (CUP), heat pumps and air handlers and such equipment determined critical.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning, air balancing, monitoring and maintenance of Building Automation System controls and monitoring equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance, diagnostic testing, installation, and effects repairs on a large variety of sophisticated refrigeration, dehumidification, air-conditioning, ventilation and heating systems equipment.

  • Maintains premises, rest and working areas of offices and industrial buildings in clean and orderly condition.

  • Restoration and de-contamination of HVAC systems.

  • Implementation and documentation of periodic preventive maintenance.

  • Make installation corrections required to assure proper function of equipment as required by tenant agency requirements.

  • Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.

  • Monitors and maintains refrigerant levels to ensure adequate operating pressures.

  • Emergency service work calls to ensure continual operations of all primary systems, air handling equipment, terminal units and associated HVAC and controls equipment. The qualified candidate will exhibit the ability to work and multitask independently or in a collaborative environment.

  • General maintenance activities including carpentry, painting, simple plumbing, changing lightbulbs and ballasts, and other activities as assigned by Project Manager.

  • Available on rotation to support twenty-four (24) hour on-call to facilitate emergency repairs to equipment that is critical to national security.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Four years of continuous HVAC experience

  • Experience with 1800–2000-ton unit exposure

  • Possess universal CFC Certification.

  • Gas Fitters license required.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, schematics and manufacturer’s instruction.

  • Possess basic computer and strong communication skills.

  • Knowledge of theory related to HVAC systems, controls, and pneumatic controls for capability of planning, scheduling, and inspecting work to include electronic circuitry, pneumatic and electronic control systems.

  • Familiar with other trades, to include.

  • Sheet metal: fire dampers, zone control, air flow volume and velocity and damper linkages

  • Plumbing: water and steam supply, drainage, gravity systems, condensation, water make up evaporation and human protection systems

  • Electric: circuit breakers, relays, solenoids, transformers, timers, electromagnetic contactors, vacuum tubes, motors and motor controls and overload protection devices

  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management.

  • Ability to obtain government MRPT clearance.

Working Environment & Conditions

Work is performed inside and outside, and could be noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy. Inspects, and works hands-on with systems and equipment in hard-to-reach places requiring standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tight and uncomfortable positions. The incumbent is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel objects, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time. The incumbent may be required to lift, carry, and set up equipment that weighs up to twenty (20) pounds. Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
