Summary
The Senior Transportation Project Engineer 1 efficiently performs advanced levels of engineering calculations, alternatives analysis, and design on the largest, most complex transportation projects that include sidewalks, bike paths, local roadways, intersections, highways, freeways, and other transportation facilities. Duties include leading site visits, preparing CAD mark-ups, geometric roadway layout and design, performing 3D corridor modeling, writing project specifications and technical reports, calculating construction quantities, estimating construction costs, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, drafting scope and budget documents for transportation-related tasks, and preparing project correspondence. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, desire to learn new design concepts, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. A successful Senior Transportation Project Engineer 1 should demonstrate mastery of design and drafting fundamentals in at least one software platform, be able to quickly learn, apply and teach new 2D and 3D design concepts quickly without oversight, provide quality control checking of others’ work, and mentor others with less experience. A successful employee is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary.

Level of Work/Accountability
Efficiently performs the most technically complex and demanding technical work without supervision. Reviews the work of others and mentors others on complex project tasks. May also perform assistant project management and project management duties as needed. May perform the role of project engineer on large and/or complex multidiscipline projects. Leads technical approach on proposals.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree required
Master's Degree preferred
Years of experience required: 15 years
Years of experience required with advanced degree: 14 years

Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
