WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW :
As the District Manager for Blood Collections in the Greater Portland Area, you will oversee collection teams to ensure the achievement of collection goals, business initiatives, and quality metrics. In this role, you will use your biomedical knowledge, logistics/supply chain experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage union relations to lead our Portland teams. You will enforce organizational policies, drive production, and embrace cultural initiatives. As a change agent, you will lead teams through transformation, fostering future leadership and collaboration. Your operational mindset and communication skills will be key to driving success and efficiency.
Provide support, development, and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
Develop and monitor assigned collections budget to ensure sufficient capacity and effective utilization of resources.
Responsible for managing assigned mobile operations and may oversee the use of multiple technologies. Coordinate with multiple department functional areas to ensure achievement of assigned collection goals, business initiatives, and metrics for quality, service excellence and process improvement in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Monitor, evaluate and correct donor flow and customer service problems in collaboration with Donor Recruitment, to enhance the donor experience and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals.
Manage, coach and mentor supervisors and staff in accordance with personnel policies and bargaining unit contracts, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions to enhance success of the operation and minimize turnover.
Ensure appropriate staffing is in place to efficiently and effectively run operations. Coordinate department training and/or communication protocols, including in-services, regulatory requirements, and new staff training. Ensure teams successfully perform collections that meet patient need, such as right-type mix and demand requirements for day of week and manufacturing location.
May operate ARC vehicles as required, including load, set up, maintain, and tear down supplies and equipment as required.
Ensure effective internal and external communication between all department levels and functions to foster teamwork and enhance operational success.
Participate in divisional and national projects
Travel: up to 60% within the region
Pay Information : The salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000
Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location where the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
This is an on-site position, based out of our Portland location. This role will require travel within the Greater Portland Metro area, including coastal communities.
This job will be posted for a minimum of ten business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience (in the biomedical field) or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Minimum of 3 years of management experience, demonstrating strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively guide and motivate teams.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance, group dynamics, customer maintenance, negotiation skills and project management preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, assimilate information quickly, analyze problems and implement appropriate solutions as required.
Ability to work independently while developing a functioning team. Must have excellent public relations skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers, and donors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including training, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel.
A current, valid driver’s license and a good driving record is required.
