Stantec’s Transportation group is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our practice in New England!

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to be a senior contributor on our professional consulting services team with offices located in Portland, ME, Burlington or Boston MA, South Burlington, VT, or Auburn, NH. As an Electrical Engineer, you will evaluate, select, specify, and design certain electrical power and lighting systems with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work. The projects that you may be assigned to will have routine and complex features for the following types of work: roadways and interstate lighting, waterfront/marine infrastructure, site development projects, aviation projects and electrical infrastructure design.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work collaboratively on the design of projects of various complexity and act as a subject matter expert providing technical advice and guidance to other team members.

Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Liaises with clients, agencies, and other stakeholders to obtain and determine project objectives, requirements, and approvals.

  • Examines field conditions as required to support development and completion of project designs.

  • Handle multiple complex assignments simultaneously.

  • Manage or take on the technical lead role for lighting and electrical projects.

  • Performs electrical engineering design tasks on various projects, including preparation and coordination of the project deliverables and documents including calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.

  • Reviews own work as well as those of project team members for accuracy, and coordinates with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for all final products.

  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance review of electrical engineering documents including drawings, specifications, and calculations.

Qualifications

What Will You Need to Succeed?

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer, ME preferred or ability to be licensed in ME within 6 months.

  • The ideal candidate will have 6 years of experience working within the electrical engineering field.

  • Design experience in lighting design, energy code compliance, lighting/power circuiting design, renewable energy, emergency power systems, communications systems, fire alarm systems, intelligent transportation system, construction cost estimating and specification writing.

  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the architectural and engineering industry.

  • Thorough knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.

  • Must have in depth knowledge of general transportation, buildings, community development or power construction.

  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation and AGI32 or Visual Lighting Software.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others.

  • Ability to work in a typical office environment with computers and sit, stand, and walk for significant periods of time. Ability to navigate and walk on uneven terrain during field inspection or site visits and withstand exposure to normal weather conditions including inclement weather.

This position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
