West Sound Workforce is assisting a public utility district in Kitsap County in their search for an Accounting Assistant to join their dedicated finance team. This well-established organization is committed to providing quality water, sewer, and wastewater services to the community with a focus on fiscally and environmentally responsible management.

 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Assistant plays a key role in supporting the District's financial operations, ensuring accuracy across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, utility billing, customer service, and recordkeeping functions. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented professionals who take pride in accurate work and enjoy contributing to a mission-driven public service organization. Shift Information

  • Monday-Friday  7:30am-4:30pm

What you will do as Accounting Assistant:

  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and daily bank deposits.
  • Support utility billing, customer service inquiries, billing adjustments, and final account settlements.
  • Maintain financial records, general ledger entries, and assist with monthly/quarterly tax filings.
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Department and assist with Board clerk duties as assigned.
  • Ensure accurate, timely recordkeeping in accordance with District policies and procedures

What we are looking for:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Washington State driver's license required
  • At least 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, financial software, and 10-key calculator operation
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
