Assistant General Manager, Warehouse

Responsibilities:

The Assistant General Manager of Operations responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day warehouse operations

  • Support Home Delivery operations to meet or exceed established KPIs and budget goals

  • Coach and develop team to maintain a safe and efficient work environment

  • Implementation continuous improvement strategies to meet long-term building goals

  • Set and maintain appropriate staffing levels while meeting labor standards/productivity

  • Ensure inventory integrity and system integrity while maximizing productivity levels throughout the distribution center

  • Measure, analyze, and provide needed data to drive process improvements

  • Maximize relationships with internal and external partners to maintain operating budgets and KPIs with focus on driving down cost and improving overall service

  • Develop high potential leaders - focus on growing existing and future leaders, and increasing individuals’ potential for growth

  • Ensures workforce engagement in core company values and through the effective execution of HR, LP and Safety policy and programs

  • Lead and manage multiple locations e.g., offsite operations

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership, training, development, and mentorship for all levels of leadership

  • Implement succession planning for team

  • Lead change management and continuous process improvement efforts for team with a strong focus on best practices

  • Formulate tactical operating plans to forecast and plan product flow and adjust staffing to achieve service level objectives

  • Partner with DC, Corporate and 3PLs to implement projects which driving operational changes

  • WMS subject matter expert, able to perform research on exceptions

  • Provide direction on key responsibilities: Productivity monitoring, reporting and feedback; quality performance and feedback; inventory integrity in all processes; safety training, reporting, and policy; and loss prevention training and awareness

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment, able to show year-over-year improvements in accident and injury statistics

  • Maintain necessary equipment and tools for the operation to succeed.

  • Partner effectively with own leadership team, as well as with teams and other business unit executive leaders off site at other Distribution facilities and at the corporate office

  • Actively embrace continuous improvement through improvement of self, as much as, improvement of the team, processes, and environment

  • Create a culture welcoming continuous improvement with a focus on cost, cycle time, capacity, and accuracy - meet business and financial objectives

  • Ensure company policies are communicated, understood, and administered

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment

Qualifications:

  • Distribution Center Experience 5+ years preferred

  • Home Delivery or 3PL Experience 5+ years preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in structured continuous improvement efforts

  • 5+ years leadership experience in roles of increasing responsibility with prior P&L responsibility

  • Bachelor in related field preferred

  • Lean six sigma certification / exposure preferred
