The Challenge

We are looking for an entry-Level Survey Engineering Technician to join our Washington County engineering team.

In this role, you will:

  • Support senior technicians and engineers in route location surveying.
  • Perform standardized and non-standardized tasks and assignments compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data.
  • Apply limited decision making and use good engineering/surveying judgment.
  • Perform surveying/engineering calculations and computations.
  • Work inside and outside as a part of an engineering survey crew under the supervision of senior technicians/engineers.
  • Lead basic field and office technical assignments relating to highway route location project surveys.
  • Perform survey instrument operations and CADD/computer operations in the surveying and creation of plan sheets and survey data including hydraulic surveys, complex horizontal alignments, setting photogrammetric controls, property condemnations, and Global Positioning System (GPS) field work.
  • Operate Electronic Engineering Survey Equipment and CADD equipment.
  • Complete Courthouse research.
  • Maintain safety and lead by example.

What You Bring

  • Communications skills to verbally communicate technical information by handheld radio.
  • Computer skills to perform basic internet skills, such as online property searches.
  • Basic math skills in geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
  • Team skills to follow verbal and written procedures and instructions given by others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in less complex assignments, such as collecting DTM data or photogrammetric/topographical features in the field for plan sheet preparation.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
