Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Facilities, performs both major and minor repair work to utility systems. Performs general mechanical engineering, with experience and license in maintenance & repairs. Installs & perform tests on mechanical systems. Trouble shoots, evaluates mechanical issues and makes repairs as required
Duties/Responsibilities
• Respond and complete Grand PM work tickets as required/assigned
• Performs both major and minor repair work to utility systems.
• Performs general mechanical engineering, with experience and license in maintenance & repairs.
• Install & perform tests on mechanical systems
• Trouble shoots, evaluates mechanical issues and makes repairs as required
• Conducts daily monitoring Rounds as required
• Involved and trained to respond to shutdowns and re-starts
• Respond and complete Grand PM Work Tickets as required/assigned
• Maintains clean filters and proper lubrication.
• Minor pipe fitting as required
• Acts as an Emergency Preparedness First Responder, as trained
• Conducts Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) as scheduled or assigned
• General knowledge of all trades
• Re-build pumps, motors, engines, valves, etc.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required
• A minimum of seven years mechanical experience.
• Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering designs, installation, maintenance & repairs.
• Work experience within a healthcare establishment, working knowledge of Joint Commission Standards preferred
• Working knowledge of Engine Driven Chillers, motors, dampers, VAV valves
• Able to read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Able to work with Computerized/ Automated Building Control systems
• Self-motivated, able to work in structured working environment
Education Required
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Strong electrical background preferred
• Strong HVAC background preferred
• Strong plumbing background preferred
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English at 12th grade level
• Minimum of four (4) years of vocational training in mechanical field
Registration/Certification
• Minimum 2nd Class Firemen’s License preferred
• HVAC experience preferred
• Pipefitters License preferred
• OHSA 10 required
• Able to obtain State “Special to Operate” boiler certification within 6 months of hire
Physical/Environmental Requirements
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
