Actalent Medical Assistant in Pleasanton, California
Overview:
We are seeking a certified and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dynamic clinical team. This hybrid role involves both front-office responsibilities such as patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and referral coordination, as well as back-office support including patient care, rooming, vitals, specimen collection, and medication administration. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:Front Office / Administrative Duties:
Greet and check in patients promptly and professionally.
Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information.
Schedule, edit, and maintain patient appointments in the Epic EMR system.
Collect co-pays and outstanding balances, and provide receipts as needed.
Coordinate HMO referrals and prior authorizations; ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
Maintain accurate medical record numbers and ensure proper chart management.
Ensure all authorizations and insurance verifications are completed prior to patient appointments.
Back Office / Clinical Support:
Prepare exam rooms and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are ready for use.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized environment including rooms, hallways, and common areas.
Room patients, take and record vital signs, weight, and medical history.
Assist providers with minor office procedures and examinations.
Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of licensed clinical staff and according to protocols.
Collect and label lab specimens; ensure timely delivery to appropriate laboratories.
Process prescription refill requests according to clinic policies.
Promptly communicate changes in patient conditions or concerns to appropriate clinical staff.
Required Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) required.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
At least 1 year of experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic preferred.
Familiarity with Epic EMR or similar electronic health record systems preferred.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Comfortable handling sensitive patient information with confidentiality and discretion.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
