Austin Bridge & Road is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead Waterworks projects in North Texas. This role is essential for overseeing daily operations of crews, managing schedules, controlling costs, implementing engineering designs, ensuring safety standards, and coordinating subcontractors, while maintaining strong relationships with owner representatives, developers, and vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day field construction activities, ensuring efficient operations, adherence to project plans and schedules, and strict compliance with safety protocols.

  • Implement safety plans, designate first aid areas, address safety hazards, and accompany OSHA inspectors during site visits to ensure overall jobsite safety.

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to plan the jobsite layout, including office placement, utility hookups, storage, parking, and crane/hoist locations, while directing initial surveys and verifying site dimensions through third-party surveys.

  • Develop and manage daily and weekly craft schedules aligned with the overall construction timeline, providing clear instructions on methods, manpower, and expected timelines, and resolving ambiguities in plans proactively.

  • Plan, monitor, and optimize the usage and costs of materials, supplies, and equipment while ensuring timely ordering and addressing maintenance and utilization requirements.

  • Inspect all construction work, including subcontracted activities, to maintain high-quality standards, addressing deficiencies promptly and overseeing corrections to uphold accountability.

  • Provide technical support to resolve construction issues, explore alternative methods to improve efficiency and quality, and work closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to address challenges.

  • Assist the Project Manager in tracking and managing labor and equipment costs, evaluating schedule impacts, and implementing necessary adjustments to optimize productivity and budget adherence.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local construction laws, codes, and company policies on employment, compensation, and labor relations.

  • Foster strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and stakeholders by addressing and resolving issues at the lowest practical level.

  • Promote team growth through training, career planning, and leadership opportunities, recommending merit increases, promotions, and transitions from hourly to salary roles.

  • Oversee project completion tasks, including punch lists, as-built documentation, and site demobilization, while maintaining accurate daily field activity reports and administering the company’s Safety & Health Manual.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction projects, including roadways, bridges, or large infrastructure works; aviation construction experience is preferred.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with proven experience managing field crews and subcontractors on complex projects.

  • Proficient in construction management software, such as HCSS Heavy Job, with the ability to maintain detailed and accurate daily reports.

  • Dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment and enforcing jobsite safety practices.

  • Flexible and capable of working night shifts and extended schedules as needed.

  • Effective communicator with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures

  • Must be able to work on call as needed
