Senior Engineer, Technology | Data & Analytics

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing team of data experts. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining and optimizing data pipelines, delivering data timely to our cross-functional teams and support reporting and analytics. The Senior Engineer will work closely with analyst, report developers, architects, data scientists and other engineers on data initiatives and will be involved in designing our next generation of data platform architecture to support increasing data demands.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Play a lead role in developing high-performance data platform, integrating data from a variety of internal and external sources, to create certified data domains to support current and future analytics and data science needs.

  • Provide the highest level of expertise for the specification, development, implementation, and support of Analytical solutions.

  • Lead, build and deliver projects with high impact and cross-portfolio scope, complexity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, both business and technology.

  • Partner with Product and IT stakeholders to understand business needs, gather data requirements, and translate them into structured data models-ensuring data consistency, integrity, and optimal performance.

  • Design, develop, and maintain the systems and infrastructure (i.e., data pipelines) necessary for the collection, storage, processing, and analysis of large volumes of data.

  • Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientist, and Business Analytics users to provide access to clean and organized data for various business purposes.

  • Participate in helping leadership define the future vision, solution architecture, and roadmap of Big Data Analytics platforms, services, and solutions by working across functional and technical disciplines.

  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to less senior engineers across the organization.

  • Explain technical issues and solutions to leadership in non-technical, understandable terms.

  • Interact with business teams to gather, interpret, and understand their business needs and create detailed design specifications.

  • Foster the continuous evolution of best practices within the development team to ensure data quality, standardization, and consistency.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:We are looking for candidate with 6+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role and has attained bachelor's degree in technology and has experienced with Agile/Scrum development process and methodologies.

  • Proficient with Data Modelling tools e.g. DBT

  • Proficient in data modeling and database schemas e.g. normalized, flat, star, snowflake.

  • Proficient with big data tools e.g. Cloudera, Hadoop, Spark, Map Reduce, NiFi, Sqoop, YARN

  • Proficient with AWS cloud services e.g. S3, EC2, EMR, Redshift, Glue, CloudWatch, Lambda, Athena

  • Proficient with CI/CD data pipeline orchestration tools e.g. Airflow, Jenkins

  • Proficient with cloud data warehouse e.g. Snowflake

  • Proficient in query languages e.g. SQL, Hive

  • Proficient with one or more languages e.g. Python, PySpark

  • Experience with data governance processes (lineage, profiling, classification, and regulatory compliance).

  • Data engineering techniques for managing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.

  • Working knowledge of distributed event streaming data platforms e.g. Tibco, Kafka

  • Retail experience is a plus.
