ManpowerGroup IT Rack Build Technician (Rack Stack) - Hiring! in Plano, Texas
Our client in Plano, TX is seeking a Rack Stack Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork abilities, which will align successfully with the organization.
Job Title: Rack Stack Technician
Location: Plano, TX
Pay Range: $23 - $26/hr based on experience
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
Job Type: Temp-to-hire
What’s the Job?
Rack and install servers, switches, routers, and storage devices in data center racks
Install and connect power distribution units (PDUs) and UPS systems
Route, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6 network cables following industry standards
Install and test fiber optic cables using OTDR and light meters
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues
Configure RAID arrays, flash BIOS/firmware, and install software images via PXE or external sources
Assemble, inspect, and test computer hardware using build documentation and diagnostic tools like PCDr, MemTest, and SeaTools
Identify defective hardware, perform visual inspections, and communicate issues with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Sales Ops
Support general production needs including unboxing/packing, working extended hours, and assisting with assembly or other assigned duties while following company security protocols
What’s Needed?
Hands-on experience with racking and installing servers, switches, routers, and storage devices in data centers
Knowledge of structured cabling and fiber optic installation, including routing, terminating, and testing Cat5e/Cat6 cables and fiber (single-mode & multi-mode)
Ability to configure hardware, install power systems (PDUs, UPS), and perform initial device setup
Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues
Familiarity with operating systems (Linux/Windows), RAID setup, BIOS flashing, and software imaging
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills
Attention to detail, cable management skills, and ability to follow written instructions and production schedules
Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Sales Ops, Manufacturing)
Understanding of ISO standards, OSHA safety guidelines, and IT/system environments
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
