Job Description:
FlexStaff is seeking employment for one of our clients, based in Plainview, NY. Our client is seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join their team. As an essential member of the laboratory healthcare professionals, Histotechnicians play a crucial role in the diagnostic process by performing testing and preparing body fluids and tissues. This position offers a direct hire opportunity with the company, with an hourly range of $45-50/hour.
Responsibilities Include:
Setting up and performing a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures, including Grossing, cutting, embedding, processing, staining, and frozen sections.
Preparing and testing specimens for examination and reporting results.
Adhering to written internal and external quality control procedures to ensure the quality of all test results.
Performing routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshooting basic instrumentation, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical problems, and methodologies.
Working with the team to ensure adequate reagent and supply inventory levels at all times.
Actively participating in the analyses of NYSDOH and CAP PT samples.
Participating in required Continuous Professional Education Programs.
Using infection control practices and procedures, including wearing gloves, goggles, protective masks, and other safety equipment.
Performing other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent.
Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Technician, Histotechnician, Pathologists Assistant, or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 - 5 years of work experience preferred.
ASCP certification preferred.

Our client operates as a 24/7 lab and is currently ONLY looking for 8pm-430am shift.

The salary range for this position is $93,600-$104,000/year
