Job Description

Summary

Coordinates all the logistics operations for materials and equipment purchased at all levels up to the final delivery to client in accordance with the sales terms. Supervises and monitors shipments to secure equipment is delivered in optimal conditions and assures timely delivery in accordance to the project schedule. Prepares all the required paperwork for imports and exports and oversees such processes with custom broker. Also responsible for negotiation of costs and conditions of such moves.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Determine the best shipping methods for the transport of project materials & equipment.
  • Coordinate the operations and details of each move with client.
  • Authorize carriers and/or freight forwarders to ship cargo for HPD and Whittier.
  • Monitor all transports to assure shipment progresses in accordance to schedule and arrival in good condition.
  • Negotiate discounts with national carriers for all Veolia north America Business Units.
  • Calculate total cost for moving equipment from multiple points for sales/purchasing to decide where equipment is purchased.
  • Supervise customs broker to insure proper import or export of shipments.
  • Pre-qualify logistics suppliers & contractors (safety, capabilities, and financials)
  • Prepare and issue RFP/RFQs (bid packages)
  • Conduct commercial bid evaluation (bid tab analysis)
  • Manage supplier communication (bid requirements, pre & post-bid clarification, awards, etc.)
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are tracked from P.O. award thru delivery; work with logistics suppliers on schedule recovery as required.
  • Manage bid documentation to ensure award decisions are objective and documentation is fully auditable.
  • Develop and maintain reliable and cost competitive sources of supply of transportation services.
  • Negotiate the aspects, terms and conditions of all purchase orders to assure that the scope included meets project requirements and specifications.
  • Evaluating & qualifying all bids received, recommending selected transportation methods to the project team.
  • Develop field trip, bid-analysis and monthly narrative reports.
  • Insure that all risk management controls, including bank guarantees, letters of credit, liquidated damages and lien waivers are implemented.
  • Must have hands on experience handli ng international documents, document and control and digital archiving of records.
  • Maintain approved supplier Category List 1, 2 and 3.
  • Continually develop new international transportation suppliers that are geographically favorable to the customer\'s job site location.
  • Execute purchase and change orders in compliance with HPD Quality Assurance Manual QP 4.6, Section 4.6, rev. 36.
  • Lead supplier dispute negotiations professionally and equitably.
  • Provide costs and lead times for transportation of equipment in support of project sales estimates.
  • Continuously improve upon personal skills - adopting continuous learning and skill development and seeking feedback.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree preferred.

3-5 years of previous hands on experience preferred.

Must be familiar with domestic and international shipments. Transport via Air, Water, Truck, Heavy Haul shipments.

Experience with dealing with customs brokers and input/export documentation for global transport of goods.

Experience with Bulk Break is a plus.

Occasionally responsible for assigning activities to others.
