Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh Student Assistant - Ref#1438 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Warhol is one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, and a collaborative project between Carnegie Institute, Dia Art Foundation, and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. Plans to house The Warhol in Pittsburgh were announced in 1989, and the museum opened its doors during a 24-hour celebration on May 13, 1994. Originally built in 1911 as a distribution center for products sold to mills and mines, The Warhol was redesigned by architect Richard Gluckman and features seven floors of gallery and exhibition space as well as an underground level that houses The Factory education studio and the conservation lab. The Student Assistants support hands-on education and outreach programs at The Andy Warhol Museum and Artists Image Resource using graphic design, silkscreen printing, and basic teaching skills to interact with youth and museum visitors. Participate in on-the-job training, professional development sessions, and field trips.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Must be currently enrolled in high school, college or equivalent, between the ages 14-21.
KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Interest in art and design, ability to work independently and in a group.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is primarily sedentary in nature, with some periods of extended standing and use of arms for silkscreen printing.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Attend Youth Open Studio at Artists Image Resources and support teens in realizing their own creative projects, providing technical assistance and mentoring.
- Use silkscreen printing skills to support Warhol education programs.
- Assist museum visitors in The Factory, The Warhol's hands-on studio.
- Assist with promotion and outreach for The Warhol's youth education programs.
- Participate in training and planning sessions.
The following PA Act 153 clearances, or proof of application of clearances, are required beginning employment and as a condition of continued employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Obtaining the required clearances is completed as part of the new hire process.
