UPMC Senior Manager, Orthopedic Value-Based Care & Innovation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
UPMC Corporate Quality is seeking to hire a Senior Manager, Orthopedic Value-Based Care (VBC) & Innovation to join our Wolff Center team. This role will work Monday through Friday during daylight hours within an established hybrid work flex agreement model. The Senior Manager will be required to travel to other UPMC Facilities based on department needs.
The Senior Manager of Ortho VBC & Innovation role is to assist in providing leadership and support in driving clinical improvement and collaborating with diverse health care teams to optimize patient outcomes and operations efficiencies within a value-based care framework across the Orthopedic service line for UPMC. The Senior Manager role will support the quality goals of the organization and be involved with the many different facets of quality and clinical improvements. This role will work in partnership with the Senior Director of Value based care at the Wolff Center and the Chair of UPMC Orthopedic Department and Chief of Systemwide Orthopedic Service line. This position requires a high degree of experience in quality improvement processes, payor-provider relationships, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
Work closely with Senior and Executive leadership in the strategic planning of the MSK and specialty service lines regarding Value Based Care programming and payor-provider strategies.
Partner with Chair of Orthopedics to be the strategic, collaborative business partner and collaborate with implementation of value-based initiatives
Manages VBC special project implementation across all UPMC MSK Service Lines such as designing Centers of Excellence, new payment and care models, research projects and contract agreements, and large-scale software implementations
Demonstrates ability to design and manage process and workflow improvements and system implementations
Monitors quality reporting across Ortho and MSK Service Lines to drive quality improvement and standardization
Collaborates with physicians and clinical leaders as an internal expert consultant to drive system wide standardization of VBC clinical and operational programming for Orthopedic Service Line
Serves as a champion for change and develops relationships with stakeholders to establish collaborative work environments
Supports system leadership in organizing and planning operational excellence activities
Promotes teamwork through a transparent collaborative work environment and incorporate team management skills in day-to-day processes
Cultivates positive, professional interdepartmental relationships with system leaders and across departments
Promotes service excellence philosophies and behaviors within ambulatory practices and hospital related services to enhance overall patient experience? Clearly communicates program updates, risks, or needs in a timely manner to the Sr. Director, Value Based Care and actively works to resolve and mitigate risk.
Express self in a confident manner in individual and group settings.
Assist with system-wide regional and/or facility educational programs including presentations, program updates, etc.
Manage all direct reports including recruitment, candidate selection, orientation, coaching, performance management, completion of performance reviews, and disciplinary action when indicated.
Participates in other projects and duties as requested.
Interface with UPMC Health Plan
Performs in accordance with systemwide competencies and behaviors and supports the values expressed by UPMC
Bachelor's degree in business administration, health administration, health policy, public health or a relevant field required, Master's Degree in related field preferred
Minimum of five years of health care experience required.
3 plus years experience leading/managing teams independently required.
Experience with Quality Improvement processes including data analytics.
Prior experience in Orthopedics or Sports Medicine preferred.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality metrics preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nursing, clinical providers and staff, CEO, CFO, corporate, university, hospital administration and other senior leadership.
Knowledge of orthopedics best practices and processes preferred.
Experience in effective presentation of efforts to multi-professional executive groups.
Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
Candidate must be self-directed and highly motivated to build teams, guide multi-disciplinary team members in understanding the complex requirements of the work teams and approach problem resolution in a positive manner.
