Burns is currently seeking a Sr. Configuration Management Specialistto join our Railroad & Transit team inPittsburgh, Pa.

Summary Under direct supervision of the project manager, and with the cooperation and guidance of other ranking technical staff, provide for configuration management of software and system engineering deliverables.  Additionally, provide the setup, training, and maintenance of configuration management tools and processes. Essential Duties & Responsbilities Evaluate existing configuration management tools and processes for optimization. Creation and maintenance of CM processess for both project and organizational level. Communicate process and tool improvement needs within the organization. Coordinate with suppliers of configuration management solutions to right-size the proper processes for the engineering group. Lead the configuration management, and lifecycle management, activities relative to software developent and system engineering practices. Generation of group and project level templates to optimize future deliverables. Provide for training and support of configuration management solutions within the oranization Support project teams in identification of configuration items and management needs. Support clients with configuration management review and solution identification. Performs work in the timeframe and budget allotted. Education & Qualfications Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university accredited program, and 10 years' work history. Must have at least 5 years prior experience leading configuration management within an engineering organization. Railroad and/or public mass transit industry is considered a plus.

College-level English (Excellent level of written and spoken English).

Ability to "translate" engineering to common language.  Comprehend and apply general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations composed in English.

Author reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Present information and respond to questions from groups peers, managers, and clients.
