UPMC Senior Business Analyst, Enterprises (Finance) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

In this position, you'll collaborate closely with UPMC Enterprises leadership, offering robust financial oversight and monitoring for their portfolio of healthcare-oriented companies, technologies, and solutions. You'll also provide support to portfolio company management teams by assisting with accounting & audit matters, financial modeling, coordinating all necessary tax filings and other ad-hoc requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, enforce company accounting policies, practices, and ensures consistency in accounting, including research and interpreting complex accounting guidance.

  • Works with Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance to ensure sufficient control processes are efficient and effective.

  • Coordinate tax filings with UPMC Tax and external advisors.

  • Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.

  • Key contributor in the month-end close, including preparer or reviewer of posting journal entries and financial statements in conformance with GAAP, and communicates results to relevant executives/stakeholders.

  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts.

  • Maintains clear and concise workpapers to support business decisions and to defend positions taken by UPMC Enterprises

  • Partners with the portfolio company's executive management to address their accounting and strategic finance needs, such as interpreting financial transactions, developing financial models/budgets/forecasts, reviewing financial statements, supporting contract negotiations, and building board meeting materials.

  • Drives continued business intelligence to understand market forces, size of opportunity, addressable market, profit drivers, differentiators needed to create winning solutions.

  • Builds and maintains data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI to present dynamic insights of UPMC Enterprises financial activity.

  • Supports the annual portfolio valuation, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting processes.

  • Analyzes financial results and develops reports for execute-level and board-level leadership.

  • Supports coaching and development of other team members.

  • May directly supervise junior team members and be expected to manage day to day responsibilities

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or related field is required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis and/or financial reporting.

  • Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience .

  • CPA is highly preferred, public accounting experience desirable.

  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting and financial reporting matters

  • Excellent in problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills (both oral and written).

  • Competent in Microsoft 365 products, including Excel and Power BI.

  • Proven ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and commitments? Strong communication (both oral and written) and time management skills.

  • PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency a plus
